Convincing the Groom: We need a Wedding Video!
In September of 2018, I received an enquiry for a January, 2019 wedding at Stirk House. With a short turnaround, Fay – the bride – was trying to organise her wedding day at the majestic 17th Century Manor House, and knew that a wedding video would ensure all of her memories would be captured forever. Despite this understanding, someone was standing in her way. Mark, the husband-to-be, was not keen on having a wedding video.
“I’ll see if I can twist his arm when he gets back from work!” Fay explained to me in one of her early emails.
After days of discussion and persuasion, Mark’s arm was well and truly twisted, and we arranged to secure the booking. During the wedding day, Mark realised – like all men (including myself) – the other half is always right!
“Craig, everything going well?” Mark asked, following the speeches.
“Everything is going perfectly, thank you!” I replied.
“I just wanted to tell you that I’m so glad that we decided to have a wedding video! Just having the ability to watch those speeches back will be priceless. I’m so excited to re-live the day again. Thank you so much for everything that you’re doing.”
The Story of Fay and Mark
During our early emails, Fay revealed that she was a friend of one of my previous clients, Jennifer. Whilst Jennifer had won Slimming World’s Miss Slinky, back in 2017, Fay had won Slimming World’s National Woman of the Year at the same event. In my response, I mentioned how inspiring I found Jennifer’s story, and what a pleasure it was to capture Jennifer and Luke’s wedding day – it practically changed my life – at the time, I was still teaching, but Jennifer and Luke’s wedding video was greeted with such a positive response that I booked up nearly an entire year’s worth of weddings after people watched it! Ever since, I’ve been filming the weddings of Slimming World goers all over the UK, and I am always inspired by their resilience and perseverance to achieve their goals. Fay’s story touched me in the same way, and I’d encourage you to read all about it here.
Nevertheless, ‘it takes two to tango’, as the saying goes, and once Mark had warmed to the idea of having a wedding video, we set a date for a morning chat on Skype. Unfortunately, technical difficulties on Fay and Mark’s end resulted in an audio-only video chat, though they could still see me – awkward! What was clear from our meeting was that Mark was just as lovely as Fay, and the two were very much in love.
Mark and Fay’s Wedding Day at Stirk House
Fay and Mark’s wedding day had it all: touching speeches, moments of laughter and tears of joy. With astonishing magic from Darren Robinson, and stunning photography by one of the UK’s top ten wedding photographers, Toni Darcy, Fay had assembled a talented team of suppliers and professionals, but as we all know: it’s the family and friends that make it, and it was clear from my viewpoint behind the lens that everyone had a day to remember. I would highly recommend re-living Fay and Mark’s wedding day with them below. I hope you enjoy it!
Fay and Mark, it’s been an absolute pleasure. Thank you for having me as your wedding videographer, and I look forward to watching your journey as you take your next steps in life together as husband and wife! My best wishes to you both, along with your family and friends. I'm sure there are many more chapters for you both to live, and I hope you both enjoy writing them together! Craig
