A Hidden River barn WEDDING

Since meeting around the age of 7, Rico and Abbie have been almost inseparable. With a story that’s full of good humour and silly childhood references, Rico and Abbie’s Autumn wedding day at Hidden River Barn is one of my all time favourites for its heartfelt nature and style.

HIDDEN RIVER BARN, Cumbria

I have been to many wedding venues during the Autumn seasons, but rarely have I experienced colours like those found at Hidden River Barn in the Autumn. Offering stunning riverside views full of nature, there are few barn wedding venues that do it quite like Hidden River Barn.

With panoramic glass windows looking out into the forest, and a place for guests to drink on the brink of the river bed, few venues offer a nature-led experience quite like this one. The sounds of the river crashing against the rocks serve as the perfect backdrop for a nature-led wedding.

Rico and Abbie’s journey towards choosing Hidden River Barn was a direct result of their love of the Lake District. With beautiful low Autumn sunshine, mixed into a palette of Autumnal colours, it was the perfect venue for their relaxed, fun and stylish wedding day.

KIND WORDS

Rico + Abbie

“Words or stars will never be enough to describe just how talented Craig is and how pleased we are with everything he has done for us. From start to finish he went the extra mile to capture everything. We felt like he was one of our guests we had known for years, and went so far above and beyond what we expected. He worked so hard on our wedding day, and the films speak for themselves (we cried). A one man army to deliver what he did for us. We will always be grateful. Don’t hesitate with your choice.”

“Craig went so far above and beyond what we expected.”

I have always been your chaos

“It seems crazy to me that we met so many years ago at school, and during that time, neither of us knew what was to come. We were just babies when our journey began almost thirteen years ago. We knew little about life, and even less about love. These years spent, not just growing up together, but growing together, as individuals and as a couple; our intentions never to shape or alter each other’s path in life, but to guide, support and challenge one another through all the highs and the lows. From Day One, you have always been my calm, my constant and my comfort, and I have always been your chaos. I promise to be your best friend, your soul mate; to always listen to you, understand you and love you unconditionally. Today, I take you to be my husband. I choose you in every day and in every moment.

HIDDEN RIVER BARN WEDDING QUESTIONS.

To be honest, I don’t tend to shoot at the same venues very often, and have never considered going on any recommended lists. I much prefer couples to find me, and say, “We absolutely love your films.” rather than shooting someone’s wedding because a venue told them to do so. As a result of this approach, I’m more of a, “Wherever I lay my hat, that’s my home”, kind of videographer, to quote one of my Dad’s favourite songs. That said, I’d happily shoot every wedding at Hidden River Barn. It’s honestly such a unique venue with stunning surroundings and drone shots that are to die for. I absolutely love any wedding that takes place at one venue for the entire day, as it makes my day an absolute breeze. When the venue is as stunning as Hidden River Barn, it honestly couldn’t get any better.

I did. It’s quite common for me to light the dance floor, as it can help to give an even spread of light when other lights may interfere. By adding a warm, tungsten based light to your dance floor, guests can still enjoy the party atmosphere while looking their best, thanks to the quality of lights that I use. At the time, I was using Rotolight Neo 3s, which are small, compact lights that shed very little heat, given that they are LED based.
I chose not to light the speeches, however, as I loved the natural light coming in from behind Rico and Abbie’s top table, and I’m always looking for a mixture of light and shadows to give my films depth.

It is! Therefore, no additional travel costs will be incurred upon booking your collection with me for a wedding at Hidden River Barn. I’ll be on site nice and early, hopefully capturing some epic drone shots, followed by setting up for your ceremony, so that I can be with you throughout your preparations, not having to worry about setting up my tripods in the rush that occurs just before you walk down the aisle.

Rico and Abbie chose to go for Collection Three, which included an InstaTeaser, Feature Film, Highlight Film, Ceremony and Speeches. This is the most comprehensive way to remember your wedding day, and it’s the most popular collection that I offer to my clients. You can see Abbie and Rico’s Hidden River Barn Highlight Film at the top of this page, but I’ve also included their InstaTeaser and Feature Films at the bottom, if you’d like to see the differences. You can check out my collections here.

I think I was fortunate to visit during the Autumn season, so the colours were especially beautiful. Regardless of the season though, the rushing river that ran alongside the venue reminded me of my time in Canada, when I went white water rafting. The energy of a river is profound, and listening to it as I captured guests outside was tranquil. Unlike other venues, which can be surrounded by the rest of civilisation, Hidden River Barn felt like it had its own little place in the world that was exclusive to guests, and the grounds were stunning. I also loved how you could get a view of the dance floor from above, as it led to some of my best dance floor coverage that I’ve had in years.

Simply visit the Contact page on my website, and get in touch! Whether you’d like to schedule a video call, or if you’d just like to book, the process couldn’t be smoother. I look forward to hearing from you and learning more about your Hidden River Barn wedding!

Lighting a fire in my belly

“Abigail, after years of knowing you as a person, classmate, a girlfriend, fiancĂ©e and now my wife, we really have watched each other grow, and in your case blossom. I still remember the feelings you gave me as a nervous young boy with his playground crush and the fire that you lit in my belly, so it’s a surreal moment we’re taking this next step together. We’ve embraced each other in our highs and lowest points, and always supported each other, and you strengthen my weaknesses to make me a better person. No matter what life’s obstacles we’ve faced, we’ve never looked back; our love for each other was never doubted and the fire only grew stronger. I promise to respect you, admire and appreciate you, to love you for who you are and the person that you wish to become. I promise to understand you; your wishes, dreams, fears and to be there for whenever you need me as a friend and husband. I take you to be my wife today, in this life and the next.”
