Pitchford Hall, Gabriella + Marco

Gabriella and Marco’s wedding is the one of more than twenty weddings that I’ve captured for one of the world’s best wedding filmmakers and photographers, Philip White. When Philip is photographing a wedding, I am often tasked with working alongside him, capturing the wedding film.

Out of all the weddings that we’ve captured together, Gabriella and Marco’s wedding at Pitchford Hall is my absolute favourite. It’s an ironic choice, given that Philip and I have captured weddings together in NYC, LA, Ohio, Dubai, as well as at some of the most exclusive wedding venues in Europe, but Marco and Gabriella’s wedding at home here in England tops the list.

I’m endlessly grateful to Philip for allowing me to share my own edit of Gabriella and Marco’s wedding film with you.

Pitchford Hall

Marco and his family would share their summers at Pitchford Hall when he was growing up. The games that the wedding party played on the morning of Marco and Gabriella’s wedding day were a part of their childhood memories. The whole wedding day felt deeply personal to their family, and it was wonderful to see people from all over the world bonding through games of tug-of-war, dodgeball and Coracle.

“home will always be with you”

“You stole my heart nine years ago when we met at university. I knew you were the one when trying to impress me, you tried leaping over the turnstiles at the library, but instead, completely stacked it, fell to the floor and proceeded to do pull ups in an attempt to reclaim some sort of dignity. It was in that moment, I looked at you, and thought, “Wow…!” That’s the man of my dreams.

I used to fear falling in love. Falling in love was to be vulnerable, until you came into my life. With patience, devotion and care, you showed me that love is not something to be feared, but that it is something rare and unique, and if you are blessed enough to find it, then you must hold it close and never let your fears push it away. Your love causes me to smile every day, dare to dream more than I ever have, and wish for a family of our own to share it with. I feel honoured to call you my husband, though you are much more to me than just that: you are my person, you are my family, you are my forever.

No matter where life takes us, and what journeys we go on, home will always be with you. I promise to love you as you have loved me: openly, honestly, forever and always. I promise to never take you for granted, or let my fears push you away. I promise to stand by your side and hold your hand as we journey through life together. To be your strength and light that guides you out of dark days. I promise to to cry with you, laugh with you and always love you.

Forever and always, your Gabs.

My mentor, Philip White

I’ve worked with Philip White since 2019. I was fortunate enough to attend his wedding videography course when I was first starting out in 2016. After meeting him, and realising we’re both from the same neighbourhood, we became good friends. Then, in 2019, just before the world would change forever, Philip gave me the opportunity to capture one of his weddings. Philip was venturing into the world of wedding photography, and has since gone on to become one of the world’s best wedding photographers. It’s rare that someone can become famous in both mediums, but Philip has achieved this. I’ve learned so much from working with him over the years, and now consider him to be one of my best friends.

This is true! Philip was tasked with creating a Same Day Edit wedding film in Santa Barbara, USA. I had a single day to edit a 5 minute wedding film, which was quite the ask. Philip was the videographer, and I was the editor. You can see the film that we showcased to guests at 9:30pm on their wedding day here. To say that we were unnerved would be an understatement, but the praise we received from the grooms, and the cheers we received from their wedding guests will live with us forever.

I’ve learned most of my craft from Philip White. I first started using an 85mm telephoto lens due to the influence of Philip’s films. I now feel like I have mastered that lens, and it is responsible for 98% of my shots on a wedding day. By working with him personally at weddings, I have seen how he makes micro-adjustments to get the most out of different situations. It’s uncommon at weddings to be working in the best environments for photo and film, so by making small micro-adjustments, I have seen bad scenes turn to great ones through small interactions or changes that couples don’t even notice.

Yes, most of the portraits of me on this site are taken by Philip White. We often do portraiture at weddings together, where Philip is the portrait photographer, and I am the editor. At these weddings, we don’t operate as your typical wedding photographer, but instead, set up a portraiture studio on location and Philip creates unbelievably good portraits of the wedding guests. The pictures of me on this site are often test shots at the different locations we’ve worked. You can see a gallery here.

Philip White is arguably one of the most influential wedding videographers in the world. He was voted in the Top 5 wedding videographers in the world in a poll that asked videographers from around the world who is their favourite wedding videographer? He is also a Leica Brand Ambassador, and has taught more than 2,000 students, who have gone on to become some of the most successful wedding filmmakers themselves. I feel very fortunate to have been the wedding videographer who Philip White chose to capture his weddings when he is doing wedding photography.

Philip White actually designed my website too! I’m endlessly grateful for the work he has done to create my website. I had my original website for ten years, but it was time for a change. I didn’t quite know how to showcase my work, and my website was quite dated. Philip offered to do the design for me, and I think it’s fantastic… hope you do too!

“I love the way i have to give you a kiss before i leave in the morning”

“Who would have thought that impressing a little, brown Portuguese girl at the Bristol Varsity Game, and getting into the same taxi as her later that night, could lead to all of this.

There are so many ways we might not be standing here together. It makes me so incredibly grateful to now be able to call you my wife.

I love not just your compassionate and caring side; I love not just the way you put me first before you even consider yourself; I love not just your creative talent; I love not just your family attitude; but I love the way I have to give you a kiss before I leave in the morning. I love the way we walk and cycle for hours through The Costwolds talking sweet nothings; I love the way our favourite time of day is sitting in the living room with a cup of tea and cake. For all those reasons, I’m grateful to be your husband and to one day have a family of our own.

If there’s one thing I’m certain of, I know you will be an incredible mother to our children, and I know there’s no greater compliment that I can give you than that. I love you now and always.
